Will it show on a background check for a job?
I was 17years old and with my friends and we shopliftied . We were in another state from which we live. I went to court and had to pay a fine. I just had a interview with this company and I know they are going to do a back ground check. I live in a different state from were i shoplifted. I did a background check for my state and nothing came up but when I went to the state where I was arrested It came up as a misdeanor. The job I have applied for is located in another state but they are going to open a office where I live. I just want to know if they will be able to see the shoplifting on my record? Do you think they will check just my state or all over?
Were you charges as a juvenile or an adult?
If juvenile definately not if adult then very likely. You can also get your record expunged. Check with that state.
More than likely it should not show up because you were a minor.
If you were convicted they will be able to see it.
Some employers do an NCIC check which is the National Criminal Information Computer check. They are aware that someone can move to one state and have something serious showing in another state. It depends upon the job you are applying for and how ridgid their requirements are. Just wait out the background check and see...if it shows due if they use the NCIC check, then you will know. Did you check on your application that you have been convicted of a misdeamnor? If you don't, I would come clean in the future and tell your story.
Answer:
anything when you were a minor gets wiped from your record when you turn 18. if you were convicted and still under 18 it will show up and you will have to inform your employer. if you were never convicted than you do not have to tell them and it will not show up.
Private companies do NOT have access to NCIC records.
