Civil Lawsuit Crazy Girlfriend?
My Ex is threatening to sue me and many other people she believes wronged her. She wants to sue for exciting distress, lost wages harassment etc... She befriended an ambulance chaser attorney who has a outstandingly bad reputation for frivolous lawsuits. I do not live in the state were she lives. Should I be worried? Do I own to be served in a formal way?
Best Answer:
depends on how you wronged her, if it be just by breaking her heart then i would laugh surrounded by her face and call her up to rub it in some more, ive never hear of case law on breaking someones heart. if you do get sued for some bullshit and a process server comes to your door, in recent times give him a real believable story about the entity moving away and give him a fake phone number etc. they only really attempt you three times and if they can write you past its sell-by date as a bad address its much easier than staking you out.
Well, we can't tell you not to be worried or not if we don't know the unbroken story. And yes, she has to have a physical person serve it to you.
If you are sued, you will receive a notice from the court. Unfortunately, if she decide to file a suit, there is nothing you can do than argue the suit is of a frivolous outlook. If the judge finds it to be a spurious suit, there is a possibility she will have to discharge your costs. Being in a separate state is not a barrier to suit.
