is it okay to plead guilty?
if someone is charged with mischief under (it is their first charge) what are the possible outcomes if the alleged pleads guilty on the first court date? will sentencing take place right now?
Best Answer:
It depends, but sentencing will probably take place immediately. Odds are a guilty plea will result in a lower sentence than if you refuse the court's time by taking this thing to trial. Of course, that assumes that you really are guilty of mischief. If you think you might have a tangible issue that could get you off you should talk to a concrete lawyer and not Y!A, the legal equivalent of some guy on the street.
Depends on the crime...mischief means what exactly? Differs state by state? Can't really give you much info unless I know where on earth you live.
if you plead guilty than they will set a court date for sentencing, sometimes the next court date will require the state to produce evidence but usually with something that small you will plead guilty, have a follow up court date set, your sentence layed out. it wont be anything that impossible, but the key point remains saying guilty is the same point as saying "yes i did commit the crime"
It depends on the court. Typically on a guilty plea a sentencing date is set. This allows for the preparation of a pre-sentencing report, which will guide the judge on moving a sentence.
