Can you get married by phone to someone that is in jail?

My boyfriend and myself would like to be married, due to a recent heart attack while in county, He's 55 I'm 50, The sheriff has said no, can we be married by phone or by proxy instead?
the best thing would be for you to be patient. If he gets out andis able to stay clean/sober and out of trouble for a year then consider marriage.
In the meantime go on with yourlife out of jail and focus on bettering yourself he must live with is consequences for now
Sorry but I 'd say nope!!!
You want to get married to your boyfriend because he had a heart attack? *boggle* (actually depending on the circumstances I might be able to see where you're coming from)

Anyways, I believe the answer to your question is no, sadly.
Get in touch with a lawyer, there have been many in prison that have been married by proxy.
why would u want to marry someone locked up?
I don't believe so. however, I'd say it's completely legal for you to get married at the jail. Consult a lawyer. Even if the sheriff says no, that doesn't make it so.

Answer:
Interesting, makes me wonder if you could visit a mental health care professional by the phone...hmmm worth looking into dont u think?
The sheriff is an idiot. See a laywer or talk with the prison chaplin.
No, not possible. Call and consult the Prison Chaplain next time.
