Writing Articles by internet for an American Newspaper rom outside, is against the US laws, receiving payment?
I am writing articles for an American Newspaper by internet, from my country and receiving a payment monthly for each article, and I would like to know if it is against the american laws.
Answer:
No it is not. HOWEVER, if the company pays you under a 1099 (contractor) agreement and you earn more than a certain abount (don't know tax law that well) you MAY have a tax liability. I would suggest you discuss this issue with your newspaper to insure you do not violate the tax laws.
I don't see why it would be. No, we have freedom of the press here.
Of course, you may have to pay taxes on your income, but that's another question. That I can't answer.
