Got married in US....is the marraige legal in home country?
Hello, We got married here in US where we both are working underneath H1-B visa. We are of different relgions (Hindu-Muslim) and back home (India) would have to get married underneath the special mariage act or something. We got married by a judge underneath the Texas law. Now we want to update our married status on our Indian passport....does anyone know what are the rules? will a they accept a texas marriage license to update the status?..Also we will be doign our greencard processing so I want to brand name sure we are doign everythign right...n legal Is our texas marraige legal in India...? will it create issues near our greencard processing or so? i am not sure of the requirement of your country but in normal cases when you get married contained by a foreign country you are required to register the marriage with your Embassy in your defence the Indian Embassy. check out with the Embassy if you are not sure . they will be able to throw in some street light.
