I have been served court papers for a medical debt. What should I do?
Best Answer:
If you were served citation and are now a defendant in a civil lawsuit, consult an attorney suddenly. There is a deadline for filing your written answer, after which the plaintiff can be granted a default judgment. Your attorney will insist on you of your options. Do not attempt to defend this suit without an attorney. The plaintiff have done this dozens or hundreds or thousands of times; you have no experience. The plaintiff has an attorney familiar next to the requirements of law and the procedures in court; you are not.
As I don't know what you close-fisted by "court papers," no reasonable answer is possible. If you mean you have be sued and served with a copy of a complaint, then you generally hire a attorney or try to defend it yourself, or default, or call the advocate that sued you.
You have to go to court. Otherwise, a capeus will be issued for your arrest. Get a good attorney.
